- 1824 Lafayette Visit medalet by Joseph Lewis. Musante GW-112, Baker-198A. Silver. EF-40 (PCGS). 14.4 mm. 22.3 grains. Suspension loop lost. Mottled deep gray and brown toning. A series of small digs or perhaps tooling is evident within the rim, just before GENERAL, and a few scattered handing marks on both sides. Still, relatively sharp with characteristically uneven rims. A rarity in any form and always popular, this piece is a fine example and perhaps a bit more affordable than the unusually complete and sharp one offered above. This said, the specimen offered here is fairly typical of those seen on the rare occasions they appear for sale.
