- UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Admiral Vernon & Commodore Brown/Battle of Porto Bello Bath Metal Medal, 1739. PCGS AU-53. Adams/Chao-PBvb-6-J (R-6); M/G-145. Diameter: 37.1mm. On the capture of Porto Bello (in what is now Panama) between Spain and Great Britain. Obverse: facing portraits of Vernon and Brown, legend around; Reverse: six ships approaching Porto Bello. A pleasing medal commemorating Britain's famous victory over the Spanish. It features gently handled detail and deeply toned chocolate brown surfaces which are free from problems.
