Incredibly lustrous, brilliant, and stark white untoned silver surfaces have a strong cartwheel over satiny fields and frosty devices. The reverse fields show just a touch of flashy, subtle reflection, typical of this low mintage issue. After the Bland-Allison Act of 1878 reauthorized the striking of silver dollars for domestic circulation, the mints focused their production efforts on the Morgan dollar, and smaller denomination silver coins dropped dramatically, only 13,600 quarters were struck in 1879 for commercial use. This virtually flawless example is an ideal candidate for any set, as they become much more expensive any finer. PCGS 41, NGC 31, CAC 11. There are just five graded by PCGS in MS66+.
