Truly an incredible quality GEM 1854 trime that is "oh so close" to a fully SUPERB grade. This PQ example is far superior to the majority of 1854's in GEM we have ever seen, including the other ones we have sold! Amazing quality surfaces offer virtually pristine preservation. There are some minor mint made die lines, die cracks, and clash marks. A robust satiny brilliance offers an intense shimmering glow, enhancing sharply struck devices. A dappled, multicolored patina at the periphery shows off golden-russet, deep olive-tan, and a sprinkling of iridescent lilac and blue that frames the brilliant untoned silver centers. The eye appeal is very high end and the quality is spectacular. PCGS 21, NGC 4, CAC 11. There are just six in MS66+ and three finer. The most recent example sold in our May 2019 Regency Auction for $9,694. The PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $9,000. In MS67, the value jumps to $20,000 and in MS68 the former Bob Simpson Collection coin (built by our sister firm Legend Numismatics), is valued at $85,000! We think this GEM MS66+ is a great value for those demanding SUPERB quality. Good luck. Cert. Number 42472454 PCGS # 3670.00
