A lovely BD-3. This is sharply struck from the late reverse die state with extensive die cracks on the reverse. A Rarity-4 die pairing, it is the scarcer of the two non-overdate die marriages of the year, with 100-125 known in all grades. This lovely coin offers a frosty mint brilliance and rich yellow-gold patina on both sides. Sharply struck up, this coin has a wonderful look. While a strong glass reveals a few minor marks and a minor scratch on the obverse, this piece has a nice look for the collector. A very popular early gold piece that will delight any one looking for a Mint State example for a type set. PCGS 37, NGC 31. The most recent example realized $15,600 in March 2022 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $22,500. Quite scarce any finer, we expect that collectors will take note when this one crosses the block. Cert. Number 43978203 PCGS # 8102
