1853-FD Octagonal $1. BG-505. Rarity-4. Liberty Head. AU-58 (PCGS). OGH. Lustrous yellow gold with definitive olive highlights, the reverse with a splash of deep gold. Obverse planchet flaw, as struck, at 10 o'clock, no other marks of moment. Die State II: ""Reverse polished, GOLD and ORN fragmented, beads smaller."" Inverted G in GOLD. From the firm of Frontier, Deviercy & Co., 1853-1864, as noted by the FD maker's mark.
