Superb Gem 1897-O Barber Quarter Among the Finest Certified 1897-O Barber Quarter. MS-67 (PCGS). This thoroughly appealing Superb Gem Barber quarter has an appealing blend of light gold, rose and mauve toning at the centers with bright azure peripheries and soft, satiny mint luster. Sharply struck by New Orleans Mint standards, virtually all design elements are fully rendered. The 1897-O is one in a long line up of scarce, challenging Barber quarters from the Louisiana coinage facility. The mintage of 1,414,800 pieces saw heavy commercial use and Uncirculated survivors are elusive in today's market. This superb quality MS-67 ranks among the top 3 certified at PCGS with just a single example finer at MS-67+.
