THE PERFECTION COLLECTION OF CAPPED BUST QUARTERS
Another Condition Census Bust quarter; this 1828 B-4 is within the Rea-Koenings-Haroutiunian Census for this Rarity-3 die pairing. On the cusp of a full GEM grade, this is a wonderfully wholesome and handsome example with a sensational visual allure. Dusky, pearly gray surfaces offer a bold underlying luster that highlights subtle slate, lilac, and peach-gold tone. As you rotate the surfaces in a light, the luster shows off some flashy brilliance under the color. The devices are crisply rendered from an exacting blow from the dies. A strong glass is required to find even a single tiny flaw. The eye appeal is exceptional, offering a classic old time collection look.
PCGS 10, NGC 15, CAC 4. The last PCGS MS64 CAC example sold for $14,400 in January 2019. The current CAC CPG value is listed at $15,600 and the Collectors Universe value is listed at $12,500. There are just nine graded finer at PCGS, and this one is so close to GEM, it should bring a very strong bid. Worthy of a sensational early quarter or type set. Good luck.
