Not only is this GEM all there from a technical standpoint, but the eye appeal is exceptional! The variety gets its name from the die gouge that connects the eagle's tail feathers to the wreath on the reverse. This is a beautifully toned GEM! Blazing, swirling cartwheel luster glows boldly and brilliantly from under a multicolored, dappled old envelope toning. Splashes of blue, amber, olive, and russet come together with accents of the underlying original silver surfaces. Sharply struck and very pleasing. PCGS 2, NGC 0. Neither has ever sold in auction. The last MS65 sold five years ago, and the record is meaningless today. The current PCGS Price Guide value is $45,000, and it would not shock us if this GEM brought that or more.
