1819 N-7 R4 PCGS graded AU55.Very attractive frosty medium chocolate brown and steel. Satiny mint frost covers the fields and protected areas on both sides and this cent has great eye appeal, especially for this tough die variety. No roughness other than the usual tiny lumps on the reverse from die rust. The only marks are a dull nick off the upper right point of star 1 and a nick on the right base of the A in STATES. LDS. The die rust on the reverse is the most extensive ever seen by John Wright (author of "The Cent Book" that covers the cents of 1816-39), and an email from John presenting his analysis is included with this lot. There even appears to be a narrow rim cud at star 5 on this example. A very tiny planchet clip or void caused a depression on the rim at star 13, but this is difficult to see in the slab. A superior example of this tough die variety. Our grade is EF40. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Estimate Value $2,250 - UP
