PHILIPPINES. Philippines - Mexico. 8 Reales, ND (1834-37). Manila Mint. Isabel II. PCGS VF-25, C/M - VF Details. KM-Not listed; Basso-56; PNM#6-Not listed; PNM#16-261; PNM#21-VIII-81; Cacho-IX-CS-075; Gil-5-3-2. Type VI countermark; crowned Y.II. within circular indent. Issued by decree of 20 December 1834, suppressed 31 March 1837 (By Decree of 1 February 1836). Countermark applied to the obverse of a 1825-Mo JM Mexico Republic 8 Reales. A RAREearly date from this mint, we have only three documented examples with two different crown varieties. The countermark is boldly applied to a moderately worn host displaying mottled gray patina with areas of richer coloration amongst the devices.
