Obverse: ornate shield with Electoral Swords, legend TANDEM + BONA + CAVSA + TRIVMPHAT, The Good Cause Ever Triumphs. Reverse: Nine line inscription commemorates siege and victory over Imperial forces by Duke-Elector August of Saxony. Our first offering of this type since January 2011, which may have been the last time it was offered in a U.S. auction. Nicely struck with old cabinet toning with considerable iridescence and strong underlying luster. Far superior to what is normally encountered for this type. Estimate: $700 - $1,000.
