SAMOA. 88 Tala, "2024" (ca. 2022). Scottsdale Mint. NGC Unc Details--Rim Filing. KM-unlisted. AGW: 1 oz. Mintage: 888. A rather ludicrous issue that the government of Samoa commissioned the private Scottsdale Mint in Scottsdale, Arizona to strike. Despite the fact that, as of writing, the current year is only 2022, this piece is dated 2024. Rim filing can be seen at 3 o'clock, likely an authenticity test performed by a befuddled jeweler. Also, the 88 Tala denomination is likely a reference to Doc Brown's DeLorean in the movie Back to the Future, which travels through time after hitting a top speed of 88 miles per hour. Certainly a unique, groundbreaking offering that the collecting community is bound to enjoy! Estimate: $1,800 - $2,000.
