1839 Modified Matron Head Cent. N-13. Rarity-2. Noyes Die State A/B. Booby Head. MS-61 BN (NGC). One of several nicknames given to large cents of the era, the Booby Head cent variety features a broadly sweeping shoulder curve that sticks out from beneath her hair curls and into the field. The present Booby Head is light golden-brown with soft underlying luster and no marks of any consequence available to the unaided eye.
