- Exquisite Gem Cameo Proof 1907 Quarter Eagle 1907 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. Proof-65+ Cameo (PCGS). Gold Shield Holder. This is an outstanding specimen that is seemingly earmarked for inclusion in a high quality Proof type set. Vivid golden yellow patina blankets surfaces that are expectably smooth for the assigned grade. Fully struck, as befits the method of manufacture, with an uncommon degree of field to device contrast in a late date Proof Liberty Head quarter eagle. Popular for type purposes, the 1907 is not only the final Proof issue in this series, but it is also one of the more frequently encountered in numismatic circles. The typical survivor grades no finer than Proof-64, however, and most display a universally brilliant finish that precludes a Cameo designation from the major third party certification services.
