- A high end GEM that has wonderful surfaces that boast a fresh and satiny luster that illuminates light totally natural gold and rich pewter-nickel colors. There is a touch of pastel rainbow toning that pops in the light. Every detail is so fully struck you do not need a glass to see the fine points. The dies were clashed and there is some crumbling of the dies at the lower obverse rim, which is often seen on Buffalo nickels. The eye appeal is truly wonderful. PCGS 45, NGC 23. The most recent NGC-graded examples have sold in the $2,456 to $2,640 range, and the current Collectors Universe value is $8,500. There are 16 graded finer at NGC.
