Despite a huge mintage of nearly 1.6 billion pieces, there are very few that have graded so high. This beautifully preserved SUPERB GEM is tied for FINEST graded with just four seen at PCGS in this lofty state of preservation. Boldly lustrous with a FULL MINT RED color, this coin is nearly without flaw on either side. As might be expected for a coin that saw such a massive output, the striking quality is OK with some softness at the centers, but the major details are all fairly crisp. NONE are finer at PCGS. PCGS 4, NGC 9. The only example in this loftiest state of preservation brought $3,831 in an April 2021 internet-only auction. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $4,000.
