THE BOYLSTON COLLECTION SUPERB ORIGINALITY and aesthetic appeal. A coin that will appeal to the purist. The surfaces are booming with original mint bloom and frost and are kissed with honey gold toning highlights. Just one or two teensy contact marks are noted under magnification. Extremely well struck for a New Orleans Mint issue and for this variety in particular, as it generally comes with weakness at Liberty’s mid section, but this piece is a pleasant exception. WB-11 with a Large O mintmark. A large reverse die cracks starts at the rim and travels through the L in dollar to the eagle’s right leg. Another crack begins at the rim and continues along the right side of D in UNITED, through the wing and to the base of the shield. PCGS 7, NGC 5, CAC 3. Just 2 pieces carry the coveted + designation for the grade. Only 9 total pieces grade finer with the nicest a PCGS MS-66. PCGS Price Guide is $5,500. This coin sold back in November 2010 for $4,945.
