- 1811 Classic Head Half Cent. C-2. Rarity-3. Close Date. VF-30 BN (NGC). This is an very well preserved and attractive circulated 1811 half cent. Both sides exhibit a smooth satin texture with no blemishes apart from a few insignificant handling marks that are well within the context of the assigned grade. The strike is a bit light around the peripheries, especially along the left reverse border, yet bolder in the centers with a sharp date. Rich crimson and steely-copper patina on both sides enhances the eye appeal. Survivors of this key date Classic Head half cent issue are typically found well worn or with significant impairments such as environmental or surface damage.
