- FROM THE PERFECTION COLLECTION OF CAPPED BUST HALF DOLLARS This "+" graded GEM is the FINEST KNOWN O-113a and among the finest for the entire die marriage. It is of exceptional quality from both the technical and aesthetic perspective and has a lot to offer any collector of type, date or variety. A totally original example that we are infatuated with! A spectacular and strong cartwheel luster blooms boldly across exquisite surfaces. The details are sharply struck from a late die state that shows a dramatic crack that spans the obverse from the lower right rim to the upper left, curving up through the bust. A truly amazing example of this final year of the Lettered Edge type, as the mint transitioned to the steam press and closed collar which allowed for a reeded edge, thus ending the first chapter of federal coinage in the United States. Ex 2010 FUN Auction, Heritage, January 2010, lot 3457 (as NGC MS65 CAC). PCGS 22, NGC 11, CAC 8. There are two graded MS65+ at PCGS with just a half dozen examples graded finer. A PCGS MS65 CAC sold in April 2021 for $8,100 and an NGC MS66 CAC sold for just shy of $20,000 in June 2014. We expect this GEM will bring around the PCGS Price Guide value of $16,000. The only PCGS coins graded finer that have sold are the Pogue coin at $54,050 in February 2016 and the one we sold in December 2016 for $47,000 (both MS66+). This is an important opportunity that cannot be missed! Good luck. Cert. Number 16072696 PCGS # 403156
