- 1970 United States Assay Commission Medal. By Frank Gasparro. JK AC-114. Rarity-7. Bronze. MS-62 (NGC). 57 mm. The standard Mint tan-gold patina is interrupted by a number of tiny carbon spots that account for the MS-62 grade from NGC. Still more than acceptable, especially as this is one of the most elusive entries in the later Assay Commission medal series. A forward-facing portrait of Treasury Secretary David M. Kennedy is shown on the obverse, while the reverse features the Treasury seal. Members of the 1970 Assay Commission included gold connoisseur Harry W. Bass and numismatic columnist Leon Lindheim.
