A visually impressive Proof dollar, especially attractive for the modest grade. Light hairlines are seen on the watery fields, perhaps gently wiped ages ago, before being carefully stored in an old album, which imparted wonderful dappled, ringlets of gold, azure, and violet hues. Razor sharp definition to the devices stand out against the watery texture in the fields. The eye appeal is pleasing, especially for the PR61 grade. Only 800 Proofs were struck. PCGS 17, NGC 11. The most recent example sold in February 2022 for $2,880. All the NGC-graded examples we can find in our database were clearly dipped; this one is more colorful and eye appealing.
