- 1788 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 23-88A, W-8100. Rarity-2. GEORGIVS III, Group III. AU-53 (PCGS). 129.8 grains. A superior example of this, the final date in the Machin's Mills halfpenny series. Tan brown and olive surfaces are of high grade texture, with plenty of mint gloss throughout and subtle frosty flowline luster at the peripheries. A small amount of natural planchet roughness is seen on the devices and at the left obverse border, but this piece is totally devoid of post-strike damage of any kind. A choice representative.
