A SUPERLATIVE example of this ever popular Civil War era overdate. Near-pristine surface quality, the fields are delightfully well preserved. A thick satiny mint frost is a delight to behold, accenting a light, attractive blush of iridescent gold and champagne hues. The devices show crisp definition, even with a few light cracks on the obverse. The eye appeal is exceptional. A scarce issue in a VERY RARE state of preservation, PCGS has only graded a single example finer. PCGS 27, NGC 17, CAC 10. The most recent example sold for $6,600 in April 2022 and before that, one sold for $12,000 in June 2021. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $9,000 and the CAC CPG value is listed at $7,880. The sole MS67+ that is graded higher brought $26,400 in the 2022 FUN auction.
