- 1835 Capped Bust Dime. JR-3. Rarity-2. MS-65 (PCGS). Gold Shield Holder. This beautiful Gem exhibits multicolored peripheral toning around softer, pearl and olive-gray centers. Fully lustrous and sharply defined throughout, this is a remarkably well preserved Capped Bust dime irrespective of date or die variety that is sure to please even the most discerning numismatist. Of the nine die marriages known for the 1835-dated issue, five are of the Fancy 8 date logotype represented here. PCGS Population (all die marriages of the issue): 16; 7 finer (MS-66 finest).
