Produced for only a single year in the Philadelphia and New Orleans Mints, the 1853-dated Arrows and Rays Seated Quarter is a perennial favorite among silver-coin type collectors. The Philadelphia Mint's 15.2 million-piece delivery is more suitable for this purpose, and it is readily obtainable in both worn condition and Mint State grades up to and including MS-64. Gems in MS-65 are very scarce, however, and this issue is rare-to-very rare any finer.<br /> An outstanding condition rarity with remarkably smooth surfaces, this piece is also praiseworthy for the vibrancy of satin luster that emanates from both sides. There is no toning to report, allowing brilliant silver-white features to shine forth powerfully at all angles. A sharply struck offering for the advanced type collector.
