1797 S-139 R1. PCGS graded MS-66 Brown.Highly lustrous medium steel brown and darker bluish steel with traces of mint red remaining visible on both sides. Tiny puffs of darker chocolate brown toning are scattered over both sides, especially on the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is excellent. The only contact mark worthy of mention is a small, nearly vertical nick close off the lower end of the hair ribbon. MDS, Breen state III, with die clashmarks on both sides and a strong die crack from the middle curls to the rim. Graded MS63 Choice and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #21446. Bland says MS61 and tied for CC#1. Our grade is MS63. The attribution and Doug Bird Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; none finer.(PCGS # 35948) Value $35,000 - UP
