One of the big three Barber quarter dates, the 96-S saw a mintage of just over 188,000, most of which went straight into circulation. Evenly worn on both sides, with deep toning in the fields and lighter reliefs. A few old lines are noted for accuracy, but the eye appeal is better than decent. A KEY date rarity that eludes many collectors. PCGS 15, NGC 3. Don't let the population fool you, only 1 PCGS VF20 has ever sold in auction, back in 2005!
