- 1652 Massachusetts Bay Colony Pine Tree Shilling. Small Planchet. Noe-29, W-930. Rarity-3. Fine-12. 71.0 grains. Deep golden-gray with slate and steel highlights. Obverse nicely centered, rim to top of most of the legend, THV weak and not quite visible, natural rim flaw at 11 o'clock, another small flaw at 3 o'clock, reverse evenly centered, NGLAN soft and barely readable, rim flaw at 9 o'clock carries over from the obverse, no serious marks present on either side. An attractive and engaging piece in spite of the areas of weakness in the design. PCGS# 24. Provenance: From our (Bowers and Merena's) Philip M. Mann, Jr. and Glenn B.
