- 1873 Pattern Trade Dollar. Judd-1293, Pollock-1435. Rarity-4. Silver. Reeded Edge. Proof-65 (NGC). Barber's seated Liberty left on globe, ribbon draped reads LIBERTY, bale at feet, wheat sheaf and plow handles behind, liberty pole with cap in her right hand, stars flank 7X6, date below, reverse with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TRADE DOLLAR around, standing eagle at center, sinister claw holds shield with IN GOD WE TRUST on draped ribbon, ribbon above eagle reads E PLURIBUS UNUM. Lustrous steel gray with a fine sheen of rich rose iridescence on the obverse with a bright neon blue halo at the rim, the reverse largely neon blue with violet highlights; the toning on both sides is vivid in a bright light source. "This is one of the designs that was sold by the mint in six-piece sets for $30. The sets were made in silver with both plain and reeded edges, copper, and aluminum" notes the <em>uspatterns.com </em>website. A popular pattern trade dollar in a highly collectable grade.<br />
