- THE TERRA PISTACIA COLLECTION A beautiful Barber Seated Liberty dollar, on the cusp of a full GEM. The obverse features William Barber's design for Liberty Seated, facing left, shield and liberty cap in her right hand, olive branch in her left. Stars surround. Paired with the regular Proof reverse die. Struck in copper with a reeded edge, this is a Rarity-7-. Sensational golden brown color flashes with bursts of vivid pink and azure iridescent hues. The surfaces have a bronzed look, similar to mint medals issued at the time. Indeed, the sharply struck devices stand out in stark, almost high relief with needle sharp precision. The eye appeal of this silver dollar pattern is truly amazing. Ex George T. Crawford Collection, Charles Steigerwalt, July 1894, lot 635; J.M. Clapp Collection; Clapp Estate to Eliasberg, in 1942, via Stack's; Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr. Collection, Bowers & Merena, May 1996, lot 280. PCGS 2, NGC 2, CAC 2. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $7,500 and the other CAC-approved example was last sold as an NGC PR64 BN for over $6,000 back in March 2012. What a great value a coin like this represents! Patterns like this are truly undervalued! And with a pedigree that dates back to 1894 how can you go wrong? Good luck. Cert.
