- 1793 Wreath Cent. S-8. Rarity-3-. Vine and Bars Edge. MS-64 BN (PCGS). Rarely are 1793 Wreath Cents found in any Mint State grade, and this level of preservation is highly desired by collectors. This offering is close to the Gem level, with the surfaces satin smooth throughout and virtually free of any contact marks in the fields or on the devices. There are however, no streaks, slag areas or planchet voids that are so often found on these earliest Cents. In terms of color, this coin is absolutely perfect with exceptionally even milk chocolate brown throughout, without varying to any distracting degree between the fields and devices. No spots, specks or carbon issues are present, and these types of faults are commonly seen on early Large Cents. The strike is as sharp as these are ever found with, with full separation on Liberty's curls, and all the fine leaf veins present on the reverse too. On balance a coin that is as perfect for the grade as one could hope to find, and destined to be the centerpiece of an advanced collection.
Historically 1793 Large Cents have been one of the most c
