- CANADA. Dollar, 1947-(Maple Leaf). Ottawa Mint. NGC EF-45. KM-37. The maple leaf privy mark indicates this coin was struck just after India was granted independence thus rendering "ET IND: IMP" in the legend obsolete. Since new obverse dies would take time to produce, the mint decided to continue striking 1947-dated coins with the outmoded obverse, but added the maple leaf privy mark just after the date. A a result, this type is scarcer and highly sought by collectors. Some bag marks and hairlines but only light wear. Estimate: $150 - $200. Click here for certification details from NGC.
