The Cincinnati half dollar commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Ohio city as a center of music, thus the portrait of America's troubadour, Stephen Foster, and an allegorical goddess holding a harp on the reverse. A congressional act dated March 31, 1936 authorized the issue. Each mint produced 5,000 examples and these were offered in P,D,S sets, most of which have been broken up over the years. PCGS 37, NGC 10, CAC 6. There are 3 in MS67+ and NONE FINER. This is the only example to sell in auction, realizing $15,000 in June 2018. The current PCGS Price Guide value is $18,000 and we have no doubt that this impressive coin will bring a very strong bid.
