- GREAT BRITAIN. Elizabeth II Coronation Gold Medal, 1953. PCGS SPECIMEN-64 Gold Shield.
BHM-4448; Eimer-2086b. Diameter: 32mm. Struck in 22 ct. gold. By Spink & Son. Obverse: ELIZABETH II CROWNED JUNE 2nd 1953, crowned and robed bust right, wearing Chain of the Garter; Reverse: Facade of Buckingham Palace; clover, rose, and thistle (representing Northern Ireland, England, and Scotland) in exergue. SCARCELYencountered so attractive and problem free, this near Gem offers radiating luster and a slight frosting to the devices. As it stands now, the current omega piece in any collection of British coronation medals.
As no official medals were made for this monumental coronation, many private companies filled the void. In this case, Spink & Son created the present charming type, originally sold at the price of £25.
