A one year issue struck the year Cromwell died (September 3, 1658). A masterpiece of the coiners art with a texturized portrait. Features a pale lilac and rosy hued tone. From a tumultuous period in British history, with some historians declaring him one of the greatest leaders of all time and others describing Oliver Cromwell as a regicidal dictator. Whatever one's own interpretation of history, the coin offered here is a marvelous portion of Commonwealth era history that is sure to add considerable gravity to the collection it joins.
