Extremely Rare Gold 3 Rubles (t) RUSSIA. 3 Rubles, 1879-CNB HO. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander II. NGC MS-63. Fr-164; KM-Y-26; Bit-42 (R2). Mintage: 5 (purportedly). An EXCESSIVE RARITY, this piece has a mintage figure in Bitkin of 5 piece, along with a question mark, pointing to its extremely difficult, albeit uncertain, status. Given the presence of certainly more than that to have crossed the auction block in recent memory, we may ignore his listed figure, though its KEY DATEnature changes little in this regard, as it is still a very important issue, and one that stands in an elevated Choice state of preservation.
