- The first thing that catches your eye is the totally original toned surfaces that are really highlighted by a watery mirror texture to the fields. The mirrors are slightly subdued, and a handful of microscopic hairlines are evident under magnification, perhaps indicative of an ancient wipe. The naked eye appeal is exceptional for the grade. Only 960 proofs were coined in 1871. PCGS 45, NGC 30. The last PCGS PR63 to sell in auction was in a November 2009 internet only auction where one sold for $690. More recently, an NGC coin sold for $852. The originality and eye appeal are very high end for the assigned grade. Cert. Number 83724668 PCGS # 5570
