- 1907-D Barber Dime. MS-66 (PCGS).
Wisps of iridescent champagne-apricot toning drift over both sides of this silky smooth, satin-textured Gem. An overall sharp strike adds further appeal. The 1907-D is the second Denver Mint Barber dime, and despite a virtually identical mintage to the 1906-D (4,080,000 vs. 4,060 pieces) it is considerably scarcer in all Mint State grades. Apparently what little interest had been generated by the commencement of Denver Mint coinage in 1906 had largely faded by 1907, with the result that fewer examples of the 1907-D were set aside at the time of issue. In fact, the 1907-D is the rarest Denver Mint Barber dime in terms of total number of Mint State coins believed extant, and the present MS-66 is finer than most.
PCGS# 4843. NGC ID: 23F4.
PCGS Population: 9; 3 finer (MS-67 finest).
Provenance: From the Frog Run Farm Collection.
