- Once considered the rarest Saint-Gaudens double eagle, the 1924-S is now only a median rarity in this series thanks to the emergence of numerous examples coming from Europe during the 1950s and 1960s. Typical of the issue, the present example is fairly well struck with a mixture of reddish-gold and green-gold color. Lightly abraded with faint wear on the highpoints, yet free of singularly mentionable distractions. (PCGS 9179)
