1740-D French Colonies Sou Marque. Lyon Mint. Vlack-72. Rarity-4. MS-62 (PCGS). 31.4 grains. A gorgeous piece with rich original patina covering both sides. Well struck throughout, and free of surface blemishes or distractions. Only a small degree of typical die rust is detected, under low magnification. This is a Condition Census example at PCGS, where it is one of the three finest-graded pieces, only one of which supersedes this specimen, at MS-63.
