- 1867-S Liberty Seated Quarter. Briggs 1-A, the only known dies. VF-25 (PCGS). Evenly toned in silver-gray, this is a bold mid grade coin with quite well preserved surfaces for a moderately circulated San Francisco Mint quarter from the 1860s. A heavily circulated issue, survivors from the 48,000-piece mintage for the 1867-S are scarce to rare in all grades, so much so that Larry Briggs (1991) assigns an impressive Rarity-5+ rating even at the Fine and VF grade levels.
