- A condition census JR-1. The 1824/2 overdate is mated with two different reverses creating two distinct varieties, the JR-1 is the more common of the two, with a flat top 1 in the denomination. Beautifully toned and exceptionally satiny on both sides, gold, pale pewter-blue, coppery-tangerine and brilliant silver blend together on the nearly GEM quality surfaces. Bluntly struck on both sides about as sharp as the MS64 we sold in December 2019. The eye appeal is exceptional. PCGS 9, NGC 7, CAC 3. This is the ONLY MS64+ graded by either service and there are just four graded finer at PCGS. The PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $10,000. We sold a non-CAC PCGS MS64 for $4,583 in our December 2019 Regency Auction and a PCGS MS65 sold for $31,200 in the 2018 ANA auction. Worthy of a strong bid, this date does not come much finer!
