- 1738-P Sou Marque. Dijon Mint. Vlack-161. Rarity-3. VF-35 (PCGS). 45.1 grains. With mottled steel-olive to a base of pewter-gray, both sides show much silvering and are generally bold despite some isolated softness due to die swell at the lower right reverse. The date and mintmark are clear, the stop before SIT faint, yet discernible with the aid of a loupe. First year of issue for sou marque coinage at Dijon, and one of the more readily obtainable Vlack numbers from this mint. Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection.
