- MEXICO. Silver Proclamation 8 Reales, 1789. Charles IV. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. KM-Q28; Grove-C-9; Calico-679. An attractive nicely preserved example of this popular medal proclaiming Charles IV as the new Emperor of Spain struck in the weight of an 8 Reales. A lightly handled survivor of the type displaying rich mottled patina with a hint of iridescence; a couple of areas of minor earthen deposits in the crevasses are mentioned for accuracy adding to its originality and pleasing appearance and sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters.
