- 1863 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. WB-101. MS-63 (PCGS). CAC. OGH--First Generation. Impressively smooth for the assigned grade, this piece exhibits satiny surfaces beneath delicate silver-gray and pinkish-apricot iridescence. Near-fully struck with crisp detail to all features. Scarce to rare in all Mint State grades, this Civil War half dollar has a mintage of 503,200 circulation strikes. Examples did not see commercial use during the conflict. While many circulated beginning in the mid 1870s, most eventually succumbed to melting. CAC Population: 8 in all Mint State grades. PCGS# 6309. NGC ID: 24JB.
