- Not only is this GEM 1892-CC high grade, it is absolutely among the FINEST graded by PCGS (Pop 5; 3 finer); it is among the most beautiful! WOW! Indeed, we believe this coin to be more beautiful than the Sunnywood-Simpson coin that we have had the honor of selling before--that speaks VOLUMES to the quality and eye appeal! The 1892-CC is a date that is VERY RARELY seen with color and this one is a MONSTER for the date! This is a STUNNING example! Offering a bold, crisp strike with essentially full details (you can ignore the hint of softness on Liberty's hair curl above her ear. The dies had clashed and cracked when this borderline SUPERB GEM was struck. Exceptionally lustrous surfaces have a bold cartwheel flash with some semi-Prooflike brilliance on the reverse. The obverse is awash in a swirling melange of blues, golds, oranges, and violets in varied hues, while some subtle hints of the original silver peaks through when rotated in a light. The reverse is essentially untoned, save for some toning by ONE DOLL on the lower reverse. For the date, (which does not come with such dramatic color) we rate the toning a 10 out of 10! Were it not for a tiny tick on the reverse, this coin would have possibly graded even higher, but the eye appeal is unaffected and the quality is amazing. PCGS 45, NGC 16, CAC 12. There are just five graded MS66+ at PCGS. The most recent example to sell in auction brought $42,300 in our October 2019 Exclusively Legend event. That coin had an extensive pedigree including Bill Spears' Greatest CC Set of All Time; PCGS Tour Set; the NFL Set; Michael Casper Collection; Arno Collection; Sunnywood Collection; Simpson Collection; the CC Collection That Should Not Exist. This coin's earlier pedigree is unknown but was sold as part of the Ralph and Lois Stone Collection, which hammered at $40,000 in May 2018. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $50,000 and it doubles to $100,000 in MS67. Worthy of the finest of TONED Morgan dollar sets, if this coin had been around when Sunnywood was building his set, this coin would have been in it. Good luck1 Cert. Number 40725711 PCGS # 7214
