- GREAT BRITAIN. Laurel, ND (1619-20). London Mint; mm: spur rowel. James I. NGC Unc Details--Obverse Tooled. S-2638; Fr-242; N-2111. Third coinage, second bust. Weight: 9.01 gms. Obverse: Laureate, draped, and armored bust left; XX (mark of value) to right; Reverse: Square-topped coat-of-arms over long cross fourchee; crown above. A supremely attractive example, this wonderful Laurel delivers a full strike and essentially complete luster, a RARITY on English hammered gold. Though NGC notes obverse tooling, this is of the faintest variety, with perhaps one streak behind the bust accounting for the grade assigned.
