ON THE CUSP of EF-40 STATUS, in fact some would argue that the strike makes it for the grade, but there just isn't quite enough luster to carry the day, in this cataloguer's opinion. Extremely well struck motifs exhibit wear on the high points, thus garnering the VF-35 grade by PCGS. The obverse is mostly brilliant with wisps of golden halo toning lending to the eye appeal. The reverse is a little more subdued with pearl gray fields accented by gold highlights. A faint, thin scratch is noted in the field in front of Liberty's neck and is noted for the sake of accuracy. Probably lightly dipped at some point. Often referred to as the "king" of the Morgan dollar series, due to it's low mintage of just 100,000 coins.
PCGS 410, NGC 156. In December 2022 a piece traded for $7,200 and another in October 2022 for $6,720. With this coin leaning towards an EF-40 grade, you might find you will have to pay a little more if you want to take her home!
