FROM THE WOLVERINE COLLECTION. Tied for FINEST graded at PCGS, this 1867 half dime is a stone, bold original SUPERB GEM. Deep, watery reflective mirrors beam from under a stunning array of blue, gold, and amber toning. The razor sharp devices are fully frosted and boast exceptional contrast against the icy fields. The quality and eye appeal are truly remarkable and exceptional for the type. Only 625 Proofs were struck. PCGS 3, NGC 1, CAC 3. None of the PCGS-graded examples have ever sold in auction, but a PCGS PR66+ CAM CAC sold in July 2012 for $3,738. The current Collector's Universe value is $7,000, but since this is tied for the FINEST graded, anyone building the a very special set of Proof Seated half dimes needs this immaculate GEM.
